About the Midwives

Gillian Daley

I am a homebirth midwife and herbalist living with my husband and daughter in Northampton.

I have been studying midwifery and herbalism for several years, including a 10-month herbal apprenticeship at Blazing Star Herb Farm and the two-year WomanCraft Midwifery Education Program, along with much self-study.

I apprenticed for four years with Beth Anne Moonstone, assisting in prenatal and postpartum care as well as attending homebirths. Being able to provide true continuity of care by seeing clients from conception until after the birth of their child has given me a strong foundation in the tradition of Midwifery Care.

I believe that the healing arts are a continual path of learning, and I am always working to deepen my knowledge through workshops, conferences, and self-study. I am currently studying under Aviva Romm, President of the American Herbalists Guild, to further my education of herbal healing for women’s health.

I am passionate about my trust in women and their bodies and see midwifery as my way of helping women empower themselves. I consider midwifery a calling rather than a career, and feel blessed that I am able to attend women during such a remarkable time in their lives.

Jennifer Hydefrost

I live with my husband and two cats in Montague, MA. From a young age I have been interested in women's health and in 2002 felt the “calling” to become a midwife.

I completed a 2-year midwifery education course through WomanCraft Midwifery in Amherst, and since then I have also had the privilege of filling the role of assistant teacher of that course for two years.

I apprenticed for 1 ½ years with Beth Anne Moonstone, CPM, assisting in prenatal and postpartum care, in addition to attending homebirths. I have also assisted several other midwives, helping them during births as well as prenatal and postpartum care. In 2007, I completed a 4-week intensive workshop at Casa de Nacimiento , a birthing center in El Paso, TX.

Currently, as a primary midwife, I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) candidate. I am also certified as a doula through DONA. I enjoy educating women about all of their options in birth in the USA.

In addition to my passion for midwifery, I have a great interest in homeopathy and the Fertility Awareness Method and have completed much self-study on these topics.

My goal is to assist women and families in gaining trust in women's bodies, so that they believe in birth and have the confidence to form their own parenting style. All transitions in life are smoothest when one trusts in oneself.
